Meet
Dr. Adriana Chavarín-López
I am an educator, leadership coach, and organizational learning facilitator who has spent my career working alongside leaders as they navigate the complexity of leading people, developing organizations, and creating the conditions for meaningful change.
My journey began as a bilingual teacher. I later served as a school principal and senior district leader, experiences that shaped my understanding of leadership not as a collection of answers or techniques, but as an ongoing process of learning, sensemaking, relationship-building, and intentional action.
I hold an Ed.L.D. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, a master’s degree from Stanford University, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California. I currently serve as a Senior Facilitator with Harvard’s Public Education Leadership Project, where I work with education leaders to strengthen their ability to address complex challenges and lead organizational change. I also teach California school law to aspiring educational leaders.
Across these roles, I have seen how easily capable, committed leaders can become consumed by the urgency of the work. I have also seen what becomes possible when leaders have the space to reflect, question familiar approaches, learn with others, and make more intentional choices.
That belief is at the heart of Sabbaticalize.

Why Sabbaticalize?
The idea of a sabbatical often brings to mind stepping away from work for an extended period. But what if we could bring the spirit of a sabbatical into the way we lead and live, even when stepping away is not possible?
Sabbaticalize is built around the belief that pausing is not a retreat from meaningful work. It is an opportunity to reconnect with its purpose, reconsider how we approach it, and decide what deserves our attention next.
Sometimes that means clarifying your values and redefining your leadership practices. Sometimes it means helping a team develop a shared understanding of its challenges and priorities. And sometimes it means stepping back far enough to recognize that a different path may be possible.
There is no single formula for this work. Each leader, team, and organization brings its own experiences, strengths, tensions, and aspirations. Our role is to create the conditions for thoughtful inquiry, meaningful learning, and intentional movement forward.
